“By
yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend
you can face the worst. Can you round up
a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t
easily snapped.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 (Message)
God created us for fellowship; in an
honest, open relationship we find strength, safety and growth. For the same reason all the coals in a fire
burn better when they are gathered together than when they are spread apart –
fellowships in small groups provides a synergy of strength, love and
protection. We can accomplish more
together than separately.
We know there is strength in numbers. We find a compassionate Christian friend with
whom we can share our daily trials and tribulations adding a third member
strengthens the relationships and soon a small group of like minded people are
caring for one another.
Accepting the help of others requires
humble honesty which is difficult for many, however it provides an opportunity
of not only being of assistance to someone else, but provides a growth
experience within each member to develop humility with one another. With a Christian friend you can face the
worst.
Being part of a Small Group gives the
members a unique experience. The obvious
benefit of companionship is the intimacy of sharing of life’s ups and downs
relieves the problems of isolation and loneliness. The members of our small group offer
assistance, comfort and defense as we study God’s word and praise Him together.

Think
about it: Do my
connections with friends or fellow church members the kinds make me feel
supported? Do others feel supported by me?
